Ditch Your Firming Wheel for the Totally Tubular Air Seeder Fertilizer System

Difference Between an Air Seeder and a Planter

The difference between an air seeder and a planter is that a planter singulates each seed right above the row, whereas an air seeder volumetrically meters the product right below each tank.

How Does an Air Seeder Work?

An air seeder has fans that blow air into a set of primary tubes. As the air blows through the tubes, the meter turns and drops seeds into the airflow that run to the tool. The primary tubes take the seed and fertilizer to a tower where they are distributed into secondary tubes. The secondary tubes take the seed and fertilizer to the openers, which put the seed into the ground.

The opener blade creates a trench in the ground so that the seed can be placed at the bottom of the trench. The depth at which the seed is being placed is determined by the gauge wheel, next to the opener blade. The seed is blown from the opener to the seed boot that puts the seed into the trench. Then, the firming wheel presses the seed into the soil, ensuring optimal seed-to-soil ratio. Finally, the closing wheel closes the trench, and plants the seeds into the soil.

Why the Totally Tubular Air Seeder Fertilizer System Makes a Difference:

The Dual-Function design keeps liquid fertilizer off of your expensive machines so you can keep your hard-earned money in your pocket. With the Totally Tubular Air Seeder Fertilizer System, fertilizer splatter is virtually eliminated! The patented fin design places liquid fertilizer at the deepest point of the furrow, regardless if the fin is new or is half-worn.

In addition to the dual-function design of the fin, the width of the fin is also more narrow than the traditional 1” wide firming wheel. The ¾” wide fin is made of UHMW (Ultra High Molecular Weight) plastic which ensures a longer wear life and provides a more consistent seed depth. The fin design also eliminates lifting of the seed during moist or wet seeding conditions that can happen when using a firming wheel.
